# The Count Needs His Castles Covered (No Mirrors, Please)

BRAM AVENUE — A count from the old country, new to the city and in possession of several properties, requested coverage for all of them on one contract, at night, with no daytime visits.

This was convenient. It was also complicated.

## What the report said

His conditions: no mirrors in any lobby, no garlic in any vending machine, and a standing invitation for the Proprietor to enter at will. The Proprietor does not need one. The Count did not know this and found it a relief.

We recommended the Timeshare Haunt, one ghost across four of his buildings with the cost split four ways. The Count asked whether the ghost was alive. We said no. He said that was a relief too.

### Outcome

Signed at dusk, in ink, in a hand that seemed to date from before the pen. Coverage begins tonight. Mirrors are not an issue; the building code asks for one per lobby, and the Count declined to look.

**Corrections.** An earlier version of this article said the Count “declined to look” at the lobby mirror. He glanced at it, found nothing, and has asked us to stop mentioning it.
