EAST INDUSTRIAL — Residents near the Delancey scrap yard reported a dog barking on the fence line from dusk until a little after six in the morning. The yard’s owners told them there is no dog.

“That is accurate,” said the Proprietor. “There is a hound. It is not a dog in the sense you mean.”

What the report said

The Yard Hound began its patrol at 8:51 p.m. and did not pause for breath, because it does not have any. Three attempts to climb the fence were noted. All three ended at the fence.

Neighbors have asked whether the barking can be reduced. It can, by request. The hound would like it noted that it is, in the words of the report, “very good at this.”

Price of the service

One bone, buried every solstice, in a place of the hound’s choosing.

Corrections. The headline originally read “zero dogs.” The Yard Hound has asked us to clarify that it is a hound, which is a different thing.

Every intruder runs off empty-handed, or the night is free.
